Metal stamping is a manufacturing method to make metal parts with different shapes and patterns from metal sheets or stock using cold-forming processes. Deep Drawn Metal Stamping
Deep drawing is a metalworking method that can be used on stainless steel, nickel, copper and brass. This stamping technique transforms a flat metal sheet into a part with a deep recession, like a hollow cylinder, by repeating the same technique—usually a punching action—on the same workpiece. Each operation, in some situations, recesses the part deeper until it reaches the required depth.
Multi-Slide Metal Stampings
Parts with multiple bends or complicated components require multi-slide metal stamping. Stamping with four or more slides simultaneously forms multiple areas of the work piece. Coils and other parts with a consistent bend are often created using this method.
Transfer Die Stamping
Using a mechanical transport unit, transfer die stamping eliminates the in-progress section from the sheet and transfers it between stamping stations. This technique is beneficial for designs with intricate design elements such as drilled holes, threading, cut-outs, ribs, or knurls in which the metal strip might get in the way. It is also used for items that are too big to be stamped with progressive dies. Eventually, in most cases, transfer die stamping eliminates the need for additional finishing.

Metal Stamping vs. Die Casting
The method of die casting begins with molten metal. Under pressure, the fluid is pushed into a mould. The metal cools and solidifies into a specific shape there. This method is especially useful for non-ferrous metals and is both costly and time-consuming.

Since laser cutting services cannot bend or mould metal, the workpiece can require additional steps. Metal stamping will provide a more detailed completion of the individual steps for 3D designs.
